Solid Acacia Wood Just How Solid Is It?

Acacia wood is a dense, hard kind of wood. It is harder than English oak, and comes up beautifully when polished. So if you're looking for a solid piece of furniture, acacia wood is an excellent choice. Solid acacia wood tables and other pieces of furniture will last for many years, and continue to look beautiful no matter what kind of treatment they are subjected to (well, within reason!).

An acacia wood nest of tables makes a great addition to a living room, bedroom or study area. The outer table can be in use all of the time, either for display purposes or as a coffee or bedside table. When you need some extra space, perhaps for working on, or for use when guests come over, simply slide out the second or third table (or tables) and, hey presto, more space is created!

There are several kinds of wood nest of tables. The most popular is a nest of three, with the largest covering two slightly smaller versions, so that all three fit snugly together. Other sets may have one large and two smaller tables exactly the same size, which fit side by side underneath the larger one. This is called a Long John. You will find a number of style periods represented in table nests, from traditional to ultra-modern. The more modern ones are generally heavier and more stable than the thinner-legged traditional styles. They are often made of slabs of wood, fixed together to make an upside-down U-shaped table. There are other variations, too, such as those with a solid acacia wood cube instead of the smaller table in a pair. This makes the nested tables appear heavier and more imposing, so you may want to consider the impact they will have on your room, especially if you have limited space in the first place.

On the other hand, the more solid version is extra stable, so great if you have pets or young children running about the place. And that spare surface area will always come in handy for craft projects, homework, or dolly's tea party!

So if you're after a solid piece of furniture, whether it's a dining table, nest of tables, TV or lamp stand, acacia wood is a brilliant choice. The beauty of the grain develops nicely as the wood ages, and a regular wipe over with a damp cloth is all the care it needs, though the more polish you lavish on the wood, the deeper the shine will become. Like all wood, acacia will respond to the care it's given, but it's a hardy individual to begin with, and certainly doesn't need to be pampered. Why not pop into your nearest shop, or have a look online at Nests and Cubes to see the incredible choice of acacia wood furniture available and in stock? You may be surprised at the number of options available to you.
