Solid Starcraft 2 Zerg Build Order - Good Offense & Defense

Playing Zerg in Starcraft 2 opens up a lot of possible build orders

. Though the most standard one is probably the easiest to execute and get a solid start with. Doing this standard Zerg build order will set you up to enter the mid game with a solid economy and good defense.

When you first start the game you'll be given 6 Drones and a Hatchery. Make another Drone then send your workers to mine Minerals. Keep morphing Drones until you're supply reaches 9/10, then create an Overlord so you don't get supply blocked.

After the Overlord, create 3 more Drones and then an Extractor at 13/18 population. As soon as it finishes get 3 Drones into to start mining Gas. Build another Drone then put up your Spawning Pool when you have 200 Minerals saved up.

From here you want to keep making Drones and mining the 1 Gas node while sending all others to mine Minerals. Once your Spawning Pool is done morphing, then make a Queen at your Hatchery. This will help you spawn more Larvae and defend against any early rushes.

Once your Spawning Pool is up you should have enough Gas to research the Metabolic Boost upgrade, which will make your Zerglings extremely fast. Morph a few of your Larvae into Zerglings to get into your opponent's base and scout what he's up to. Since your units are so fast you won't have to worry about other speed Zerglings or even Hellions near as much.

After this it's up to you to carry on to another strategy. You could expand, get Roaches, upgrade to a Lair and get Hydralisks, the choice is yours! Depending on what your opponent is doing, you should react accordingly.

And of course you should keep your macro game up as much as possible, creating lots of Drones, expanding efficiently and building up your army to take out your opponent.
