Random access memory refers to a storage technology that allows you to read and write the data as many times needed while ROM allows data to be written once after which it permits only reading. Despite SRAM being faster, its not as commonly used as DRAM because it is more economic than the SRAM. DRAMS as well as SRAM are volatile in nature which means that their data is erased when the power is turned off.
