Some Organic SEO Myths

People know how important organic SEO is but there are certain SEO myths which makes the whole scenario kind of hilarious. These myths are spread far and wide but no one knows how true they are.

Some of the most common organic search engine optimization myths are listed below:

1.Submit URLs to search engines This was true once upon a time but it's been a long time since it was necessary.

2.Need Google Sitemap You don't need a Google Sitemap if your site has been built properly and is crawler friendly. Though it won't hurt to have one but ranking won't be affected whether you have it or not.

3.Update Site Frequently - Updating the web pages frequently can increase the search engine crawl rate but it won't have much affect on the ranking. You can even see that some of the high ranking sites haven't changed for a long time.

4.Ignoring Google's guidelines can get your site banned It is better if you use the Google guidelines as they provide a few words of advice on how to rank higher in their search engines but it doesn't make sense at all that your site will be banned if you ignore it. You can read and follow them if you like but it is not compulsory to follow them.

5.Buying Links Is A Bad Idea Well, if you bought some links and used it how will Google find out about it? They have made it clear that paid links will not be counted as votes for a page but if they figure out it has been bought.

6.Web content must be 250 words in length This simply a good amount of words you can use to write but it doesn't mean you must use the figure exactly. Shorter and longer word content does rank well.

7.Optimize Site for the long tail Not necessarily as long as tail keywords are seldom used by searchers. Since this is rarely used it is easy to get ranking for long term keywords. You can simply include them in an article or blog post but that is not optimization.

So, how many of these myths have you been following? If you are a newbie in this SEO industry, hopefully the points will help you clear any doubts that have been bothering you. These myths are nice, but are nothing short of a story. To follow them would be ridiculous and would affect your professionalism.
