There are two types in which moles are generally classified. The first type of moles are the ones that exist since birth and the other type is the ones that are formed later on in life. Moles that are present since birth are also known as congenital nevi. Continuous exposure to the sun results in the formation of moles. The option of clinical removal is not preferred by many, in spite of it being the safest. This is because it is very costly. Additionally most of the insurance companies do not cover such procedures as they are cosmetic in nature. Hence a person needs to bear all the expenses by themselves if they wish to go for such a procedure. Thus home removal techniques are preferred by most of the people.
Methods with the help of which moles can be removed at the comfort of home are very easy to perform. One should however be careful while performing them. There are a variety of risks associated with them. Some other issues may be faced if proper care is not taken while implementing these methods. Cutting off the mole is probably one of the most frequently used home removal techniques. Normally this is done by using a pair of scissors. There are few people who use nail clippers instead of scissors. If one does not use sterile instruments then the chances of being infected become very high. It is thus important to ensure that you are using a sterile instrument. One of the easiest ways to do this is clean it with alcohol before use.
Some amount of blood loss will occur when the mole is cut off. This blood needs to be cleaned with the help of cotton. Also the wound needs to be properly cleaned. Some kind of antibiotic ointment should also be applied after the wound is cleaned to avoid getting infected.
The next method used is the application of juices of certain fruits and vegetables which are acidic in nature. The acidic nature of these kind of ingredients is surely of help when it comes to removing moles. Having said that, this also proves to be harmful to the skin surrounding the mole, as it often gets burned. One must thus put on some kind of petroleum jelly on the skin prior to the application of such juices, to prevent the skin from burning. It is very important to perform the procedure of removal with extreme care irrespective of the methods used.
