Patience is a virtue! SEO takes time and there is really no overnight way to leap to the top of the search engine results pages naturally. What you have to remember is that this will only get you blacklisted and kicked off the search engine altogether. At the top of the SERPs for many keywords, it is an incredibly competitive place. The longer you stick at it the better chance you have.

As you are at the top you must have some great content on your website. When you are at the top it can become a war of attrition to stay there. To keep content flowing it can be very tempting to just steal some from somewhere to save yourself the effort. This will only ever end in tears as for one you may get in trouble, depending on where you got it from, but more importantly, people may well have seen this content already and take this as a sign that your website is less valuable than they thought, losing you visitors and popularity.

Carried Away

Sometimes if you're doing well the best thing is to chill out for a while and survey the landscape. It can be tempting to start fiddling with your website design lay out or your e-commerce system to try and boost yourself again. For SEO purposes, if you're at the top, it is obviously working so making changes could be a bad move. Be 100% sure that any change is worth it and make sure to test out anything you change before making it a final alteration.

One of the most important things you can do is to keep ahead of the game in your industry. People will keep coming back to your site if you always have the latest news, products, information or advice. Staying at the top of the search engine rankings means you need to stay one step ahead of the competition, in knowledge as well as in rankings.
