It is a common belief that, all talented lyric writers are not made

, they are born. I am not speaking anything on contrary to this belief, but it does not necessarily mean you cannot improve your musical skill, especially your ability to writing lyrics. I really believe that, there always remains a scope for improvement in whatever you do. I understand, you have opened this particular article probably with a same enquiry in your mind. Ok, I am giving you some tips here from my practical experience, which I myself have found very helpful.

1. Ghost of rhymes: Stop worrying all the time about "rhyme". Lyrics are spontaneous creation; there is no much scope for technique here. If the sound of the rhyme is pleasing to the listener, your writing is perfect.

2. Write from own experience: You may have listened to this advice many times before. But, it is true as it is time tested. Writing is created mainly from emotions. If you cannot relate yourself to such emotions, writing becomes difficult. If you write something from your own experience which has left a mark of emotion, memories in your heart, you can connect it to your lyric more easily; your ideas will keep coming. You can make your lyrics popular if you can link common people to your song.

3. Simple title for lyrics: Title of the lyric should be with common words or phrases which most people daily use and easy to remember. The good examples are the popular songs by Elton John or Gary Barlow.

4. Access to digital recorder and writing material: You never know when your creative force reappears. So stay tuned. Keep cell phones with digital recorders and writing pad ready.

5. Pro as a reference: If you like somebody's song or lyric or performance, check with the internet and try to adapt it to yourself, to improve like a pro.
