The Soundwave is a music festival celebrated annually across major Australian cities
. Originating from Perth, the festival started spreading out to other cities from 2007. The festival is a galore of both Australian and global music performances spanning a vast genre that includes punk rock, rock, and heavy metal. The festival is put on by the Soundwave Touring company, which tours different artists every year. For instance, 2010 tours included All Time Low, Brand New, The Dillinger Escape Plan, and Porcupine Tree.

Every year the festival is marked by resounding success. The latest edition was held in 2010 and the festival added a brilliant dash of colour to Australias already festive ambience. The year saw dazzling performances put forth by top names from the world of music like Faith No More, HIM, Meshuggah, Placebo, Anthrax, Glassjaw, This is Hell, and Architects. By and large, it was the UK, US, and Canadian bands that put up the maximum number of acts. Right from 20th February to 1st March, the Soundwave Festival created the mood for a sizzling night in the cities of Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth. The venues were: The RNA Showgrounds, Eastern Creek Raceway, Melbourne Showgrounds, Bonython Park, and Steel Blue Oval. Those who have missed out on the action so far can look forward to the 2011 festival, which would unfurl from 26th February to 7th March for 5 days. So far, about 12 names which would perform at the event have been leaked out. These include The Blackout, Trash Talk, Mad Caddies, and Bayside. The final list is expected by 5th August.
