Spain: Time for Salsa
The country of Spain is famous for a lot of things, and one of them is being the ideal ground for having a good time. Probably that is the reason why the past decade has seen an increasing number of tourists flocking to the country in all seasons.
Balearic Islands: Also known as Islas Baleares, (or Illes Balears in Catalan) this 'congregation' of four islands floats over the Mediterranean, and each one has a distinct role. The seniormost among these is Mallorca, that has a little bit of everything; right from eye-catching mountains to hiking and other outdoor activities, to seaside tourism. Ibiza, made popular by the Vengaboyz song, is exactly as described in the chart-buster, the perfect spot to party. Menorca has beautiful beaches and coves, along with prehistoric monuments, while Formentera is an isolated island, which is fancied by many for long vacations extending into months. Despite the fact that roughly about a million tourists visit these islands, the natural beauty has been maintained through all these years. Besides the regular resorts, bars and beaches, there is a bit of culture as well in the form of Gothic cathedrals and stone age ruins. There are also many fishing villages and citrus orchards for those looking for a different kind of holiday.
San Sebastin: Located on the shores of the crescent shaped Baha de La Concha, San Sebastin has shown no signs of losing any of its charm over the years. This is one part of Spain that has truly 'been there, done that', right from the royal 'blue blood' visitors to international rock stars. Although there are no cultural landmarks as such, like at the Balearic Islands, the city's electrifying atmosphere does the trick in entertaining every single person arriving here. The La Concha beach is easily one of the world's prettiest, and the Zurriola beach across the river, which is also known as Playa de Gros, is a great platform for surfing. And then there is the Parte Vieja (Old Town), which is renowned for having more bars than any other quartier (neighbourhood) in the world. TheCentro Romntic, having the signature pedestrianised shopping streets, has the spell-bounding faades of Art Nouveau buildings, all making for the picture perfect postcard! The annual San Sebastin Jazz Festival and International Film Festival are other attractions that pull tourists here.
Seville: If there is any place that is even remotely close to the perfect Andalucian retreat, it would be Seville. The region's capital, and also its biggest city, the signature style of living is evident in all its fervour and essence. One can experience the revered Semana Santa (Holy Week) in all its glory and passion, the romantic annual feria (fair), the best tapas bars and night-life. The city is home to two of the most popular phenomena flamenco and bullfighting, along with the heritage of art and architecture of various types and times, i.e., Roman, Islamic, Gothic, Renaissance, baroque.
