Why is there so much hype about Starcraft 2? Because for gaming geeks, the sequel to Starcraft possesses the complexity and balanced game play the prequel has become famous for. Released just last July this year, the gaming world is in for so much excitement. The military sci-fi RTS video game still proves the Starcraft legacy, as it was met with very positive reviews from game critics. It is always the same engaging and challenging game play. The battles against each race, Terran, Zerg and Protoss, are yet balanced but now more complex and intricate. Here is a short Starcraft 2 strategy guide for each race.

Terran Strategy

One popular strategy for the Terran race is called the Marauder Rush. It is tagged as a cheap tactic by most Starcraft players, because the Marauder is relatively inexpensive to build yet a very powerful unit in early game. It can lead to a quick victory when pulled off successfully. Doing this strategy only needs two Barracks, one with nuclear reactor and the other with upgrades, for fast mass-producing. It also requires the MULE and many SCVs to boost economy for quicker production. If a Terran player creates a horde of Marauders, with a handful of Marines and others, the opponent will have a very hard time countering them. Inexpensive and very fast, no wonder it's called a cheap tactic.

Protoss Strategy

The Protoss is a race of futuristic aliens. Because of that, they don't have powerful starter units like the Terran and Zerg but they have incredibly strong units for mid and late game. The key therefore is to counter early rushes by the opponent. How to do that is to immediately warp in buildings to be able produce powerful units. Take the Void Ray for example. It is a very powerful air unit, and coupled with its Prismatic Beam it can take down the whole enemy base quickly. The idea here is to create a group of Void Rays early in the game then rush for attack. Doing the Void Ray rush is quite tricky because the Protoss player will have a hard time countering early rushes as the bulk of the economy is alloted for producing Void Rays. A small group of Zealots, Stalkers and a handful Photon Cannon might be able to defend the base. When this strategy it successfully done, it can lead to an early victory as Void Rays are very powerful especially when as a group.

Zerg Strategy

One popular strategy for the Zerg race is called the Zergling Rush. Zerglings are small, agile insect-aliens that can go through walls and run around the map with astonishing speed. The idea here is to quickly produce a horde of Zerglings and rush them to attack. To do this, the player will have to sacrifice economy boost for late game. The player creates no new drones but instead builds a Spawning Pool once the mineral hits 200. An Overlord and a couple of drones are then produced next. When Pool is finished, the player spawns a group of Zerglings and then goes to the enemy for a surprise attack.
