Start planning the perfect Thanksgiving Day feast
Although Halloween hasn't even happened yet that doesn't mean you can't think ahead to Thanksgiving
. This fall holiday is one that brings families together around delicious food and excellent company.
If deciding to host
the big day at your home, you should begin the planning stages as early as possible as Thanksgiving is one of the most important holidays where people expect the best food. When you think about it, the food is the center of discourse when talking about what people's favorite parts of the holiday are.
First, send out personalized party invitations to your family and friends so that they know this year they don't have to worry about cooking the huge feast for everyone. Make sure to note the time that everyone is expected to arrive, you don't want to have to wait on that one cousin or aunt who holds up the meal for everyone else.
Since this will be a large feast you'll need to make sure you have plenty of paper goods on hand. Stock up on paper plates, napkins, cups and plastic tableware with Thanksgiving motifs. You can include leaves and turkeys to go along with the theme. The table is also an important piece of the puzzle and should be decorated accordingly. Place and elegant table cover with a fall motif as well to go along with the wonderful autumn holiday. Traditional centerpieces like a cornucopia or even a bowl of fruit make for great accents and also add a pop of color. You may also want to place some elegant candles to create a warm, inviting atmosphere.
While you're in the kitchen making sure the turkey is cooking just right, your guests can be in the other room admiring the wonderful
decorations your have places around the home. Stick with fall colors like red, orange and yellow as you hang decorative banners and streamers to add some flair to the rather traditional holiday.
Ask your family and friends to help out by bringing an extra dessert or assisting in the kitchen, as Thanksgiving can be an extremely stressful holiday to prepare for. The more hands to help out the better, and you can even get the kids involved and ask them to make special party decorations to be placed at the table or hung around the home.
Fore those who want a more festive atmosphere you can even have the children dress up as Pilgrims and Native Americans and reenact the First Thanksgiving. It'll be cute and imaginative and will make the perfect addition to the Thanksgiving feast.
