in major European markets.HTCand Samsung manufacturers most smartphones which are distributed and UK is the first country in the world with the most smartphone users.

ComScore MobiLens conducted a study analyzing the growth trends of the Google Android platformthrough the five major European markets: France, Germany, Italy, Spain and United Kingdom, known as EU5.According to the average for the quarter ended in July 2011, across EU5 reported 88.4 million samrtphone users, up 44 percent over the previous year.Spain is the second highest percentage of users of smartphones with a share of 43.2 percent, ranking first position UK.

The data shows thatAndroidhas eaten the apple, overtaking the Cupertino company.The operating system ofGoogleshowed the fastest growth among the platforms of smartphones in the period, increasing its market share from 6 to 22.3 percentage points.

The growth ofAndroidin the last year surpasses both of all the other platforms by a significant margin to 32 points on Symbian, head of the table with a 37.8 percent share.

The data include taking into account the percentages of 2010 whenApplesurpassed an 19 percent share to 6 percent ofAndroid.The only platforms that lost share are Symbian and Microsoft, which declined by 16.1 and 4.8 percent respectively.

"Thanks largely to the growing popularity of the platform ofGoogle, the use of smartphones has experienced significant growth, "said vice president of comScore Europe for Mobile, Jeremy Copp.

In July 2011, 19.7 million users 'smartphone' of the five countries used Android terminals, obtaining the highest number in the UK (6.3 million), followed by France (4.5 million) and Germany (4 million).In these areas,HTChas the largest market share of Android with 34.6 per cent to below Samsung with 31.7 percent.

Meanwhile, HTC and Samsung are the leading manufacturers ofAndroid.HTC reached the highest market share with 34.6 percent of all Android devices used throughout the region, closely followed by Samsung with 31.7 percent.

In the UK, HTC accounted for more than 50 percent of Android devices in use, a figure "significantly higher than in other countries," says the study.

Meanwhile, Samsung was second largestAndroidsmartphone manufacturerin the UK, representing less than half the share of HTC (21.6 percent).However, among the other members of the EU5, Samsung stood at the head in Android devices with a market share of 42.3 percent in France and over 30 percent in Germany, Italy and Spain.
