With Winter on our doorstep many of us start to suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder

, or winter blues as it is also known. This can transform the happiest of people who have no mental health issues into negative mood changes over the dark winter months.

The elderly and babies are at risk of illness due to the cold. Gardens are usually out of bounds espcially on an evening due to the coldness.

So what we can do about it? The best thing that we ever did was to invest in a real log fire. Our dark cold looking living room is now a very cosy, snug and warm room now.

Some log burners and stoves also heat the water up in your system. The installation of such an investment depends on your initial set up. It can be quite costly however over a few years you will soon break even and the cost to run is very low in comparison with typical heating solutions.

Having a log burner can bring a new fun dimension to the cold winter months for your family. Trips into the woods to find kindling is great fun for kids and adults alike.

You may need to buy your firewood and most suppliers now follow a more environmentally friendly code of conduct in regards to replanting trees and maintaining forests and woods.

For those that miss the gardens then outdoor log burners may be just up your street. There are so many fire pits and patio heaters available, as they are also known. If you decide to buy an outdoor log burner then check that the product is constructed from steel and is produced to a high quality. There are lots of cheap and cheerful imports which can fall apart after one season of use.

Also check what is recommended to burn. Some come with treated log sections which will burn for much longer than you would expect.

A good outdoor patio heater or fire pit will enable you to enjoy evenings and give such an ambiance to the garden.

So what starts as a miserable and cold Winter can wind up being lovely and snug, cosy, romantic and fun amf cost less of your hard earned cash.
