It's one of the prettiest parts of the North Island of New Zealand, the sun and summer equal to the winter glory of the South Island's Queenstown and Otago, so it's easy to understand why the winterless north is such a popular place for visitors needing a little rest and relaxation. There are also plenty of craft places and due to the high number of tourists coming into the area, there is a good range of great eateries, often serving up locally grown produce, and fish caught by some of Northland's fishermen.
