Steam Washing

I worked in a carpet and upholstery cleaning, installation and repair business about

15 years and during that time I had the opportunity to use some high-powered cleaners to remove stains and general dirt stains. I also used 3 different types of cleaning methods shampoo, dry cleaning and water extraction or steam cleaning. Today I would like to share my thoughts on each of them.

Shampooing your carpet is probably the oldest method I know to use. I'm sure there were others, but then I'm only 42. For some fabrics, like wool, and some sensitive to moisture shampoo cotton provides a form of wet cleaning and can help minimize the bleeding colors and extreme shrinkage. Suitable rotary machine with a soft brush. The shampoo is applied to the carpet through the sprayer and rotary machine is controlled to and fro on the carpet.

Dry cleaning of carpets and upholstery really became the rage in the 80's. The guy who created the Chem Dry, allegedly, in fact patented the chemical he created for carpet and upholstery cleaning. He then trained others to use this process, and then sold them to the franchise rights to the use of this chemical. The rotary engine is also used, but with a cotton hood instead of a brush. Sparkling chemical is applied to the carpet through a sprayer, allowed to sit for several minutes, then rotary machine moves back and forth on the carpet. Cotton swab moistened usually collects dirt, which weakened on carbonated chemicals. The carpet usually dries in a couple of hours.

The method that I used and liked to be better water intake. With high pressure pump hot water mixed with the correct amount of cleaning chemical is injected into the carpet to break down the dirt embedded in the fabric. The jet of water is attached to the head cleaning rod, which passes through the vacuum. Chemicals, water and dirt will be immediately removed from each passage of the instrument. When the equipment is used properly carpet can begin immediately dried and usually will be completely dry for 4-5 hours.

Each of the methods I mentioned above, have their positives and negatives. I would like to leave you with one thought. If I have soap in my hair, and I do not rinse it, what do you think will happen when it dries? Shampoo and dry cleaning now offers a way to completely remove their chemical scrub down your fabric. It's like washing the washing and rinsing is not a soap. Since water intake of the chemicals and other contaminants washed from the vacuum and removed to a holding tank.
