Massachusetts Nissan offers the following tips for keeping your Nissan safe from car thieves, and to help decrease the potential of having your car stolen:
Stop Inviting the Thieves In
If you leave your car doors unlocked, you're inviting a car thief inside! Lock your doors every time you get out of your car.
Don't Leave Valuables in Plain View
Coins and cash in the open ashtray, CDs or an mp3 player on the passenger seat, your purse on the floor all of these careless habits are screaming to a thief that your car is a great target. They may not take your Nissan itself, but they will sure find a way to get inside to take the valuables you leave in plain view. Lock them in the trunk or keep them at home to decrease the risk of someone walking by your car and wanting to get in for whatever you leave out in the open.
Take the Keys out of the Ignition
How many times have you left your car running or the keys in the ignition just to run inside for a gallon of milk? It's estimated that as many as one out of every six stolen vehicles ocurred when the keys were left in the car. Not only are you making it easy for a thief to get away with your car but you're also putting everyone at risk. What if a child decided to get in your car in the few minutes you were inside buying milk? The child and anyone in the way could easily be hurt.
Park in Well-Lit Areas
Always choose the most well-lit parking spots for your Nissan when parking at night. Thieves will always target cars furthest away from the building and in darker corners of parking lots to reduce their risks of being caught.
