Strength Training Success: What Should You Do To Achieve It?

Strength Training Success: What Should You Do To Achieve It

?

The keys to strength training success aren't easy. But, fortunately, they are simple.

Whether you're an advanced lifter or just starting, following these guidelines will help you tremendously. And while they won't double your strength tomorrow or the next day, if you follow them for a few months (or even years!) you'll be amazed at the strength you can build.

Start Slow, Go Slow

As the old adage goes, "Slow and steady wins the race." This wisdom is so true.

It sounds boring, but strength training success does not happen overnight. There are many hours of hard work and sweat that go into it.

Advance to the next weight only when you can handle it. Push yourself to the limit, and then rest.

If you gradually advance, over the next few years you won't hurt yourself and you'll keep making progress. And You'll just keep lifting more and more.

Stick To Your Plan. Religiously.

Plan your work, and then work your plan. And stick to it.

Too cold? Time to train. Too tired? Time to train. Too busy? Time to train.

Just showing up at the gym is more than half the work done. Sticking to your schedule even when you don't want to train will give you the physical strength you seek, as well as the mental fortitude to succeed in other arenas that are just as important.

Building Strength Takes Time

Next week, you won't be much stronger than you are this week. And the week after, not much stronger than next week.

But

Drip, drip, drip like small droplets of water carving a beautiful cave of over months, years, and decades, you will get to your strength training success.

And it won't take anywhere near a decade to start seeing results ;-)

Don't angst at the slow rate of progress. Day to day, yes it's slow. But over time it really adds up.

Know There Will Be Setbacks - That You Will Overcome

If you seriously do strength training for a long time, problems will crop up. Injuries will occur and mistakes will be made.

Vacations and moving your house and holidays happen. And, at times, it will seem as if the entire universe is conspiring to keep you from working out regularly.

But, if it is important to you, you will continue to workout. The time you take off will heal you and allow you to return to training with fresh enthusiasm and energy.

Accept the difficulties as just another part of building your true strength training success. With good information you can get by clicking on the links below to guide your determination, you will succeed.
