Student Fashion Website Launched By Young Entrepreneur

Jo Booth launched new student fashion website MyFashionShop.co.uk earlier this month

, and with over 1,000 hits to date, it seems her knowledge of what to wear and where to buy at the best prices is just what the savvy, style-conscious student ordered...

FOR former MMU student Jo Booth, university wasnt all about reaching her academic and creative potential. She immersed herself in student life, embracing the culture and basic principles of day-to-day financial survival.

One thing Jo realised quickly was the important role fashion plays in the life of a student, but also that not all young people have the ability to roll out of bed and look the part.

The innovative 22 year-old created MyFashionShop.co.uk, a website for savvy students who want to buy stylish, fashionable clothes at affordable prices.

Jo said: The initial idea came from noticing that many students, if completely honest, would love to be at the height of fashion or have a style that they can call their own. Not everyone knows how to go about this though. And thats fine. Were not all fashionistas, nor would we want to be. We all have our own strengths and the website simply offers all students a blanket of up-to-date fashion information relating to different shapes, sizes and tastes.

It also gives advice and useful tips on what to wear for different occasions day one of university, what to pack for a festival, how to create your own style or just how to look good dozing in a lecture.

But most importantly of course is price bracket. MyFashionShop.co.uk is a comparison site as well, so students can log on and get the very best deals.

Jos idea for the website began to take shape when she teamed up with Danni Godfrey, currently studying graphic design at Salford University, to help brand the website and create student fashion photo shoots.

Danni and I were at school in Tameside together and hes the best graphic designer I know, hes done a brilliant job on the look of MyFashionShop.co.uk. Its easy to navigate and features the best student brands including Topman, New Look, Miss Selfridge, boohoo.com, Miss Guided, Inlovewithfashion.com and BANK.

We have also created look books and the team visits campuses around the country to snap photos of fashion-conscious students and feature them on our special Student Seen Street Style page.

Jo has also acknowledged the growing need for students to have real life work experience, something employers are demanding more frequently before a graduate job application will even be considered.

She said: We want to be inclusive with the website and create a real buzz among students. All our contributors to blogs, look books and the Student Seen section are current students from fashion, photography, graphic design, film and journalism courses. I wanted to ensure there were opportunities for other students to publish their work and anyone interested in being a contributor can email me at student@myfashionshop.co.uk.

Jo added: We have great brands, discounts and vouchers. A lot of people dont realise that the high street fashion shops put out special lines of clothing that are only available online and not in their shops. All you have to do to get these and our special deals is to sign up on the website, or follow us on Twitter or Facebook.
