Subjects to Photograph During Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a wonderful time when all members of the family gather at home. It is a happy time of the year. Relatives from different places meet and have a great time together. There is plenty of food and Thanksgiving drinks for everyone. Since everybody is present, it is a perfect time for you, snap shooters, to whip out your digital compact or SLR camera and start taking pictures.

However, you might get a little bored after taking ten portrait shots of Uncle Bob and Aunt Tillie. If so, it is time to focus on other interesting subjects. After you take everybody's picture and maybe a dozen of group photos, it's time to take some beautiful snapshots of the food and Thanksgiving drinks.

You must be quick, though. Take some pictures of the food before the dinner starts. It is not really that nice to look at a picture of the turkey after it has been carved already. Of course, you can also take photos of the dishes while everybody is eating, but it is nice to have a picture of the food when all the garnishes, ornaments, and trimmings are still in place.

Thanksgiving drinks are ideal subjects. They are contained in crystal glasses that look very attractive in pictures. Thanksgiving drinks are also colorful; color is one of the most important elements in all kinds of photography. The moisture that condenses on the outside of the cool glass of Thanksgiving drinks can give you many artistic opportunities. If you are great with the lighting, you can get a rainbow effect.

You can be very creative with Thanksgiving drinks as subjects. Try taking a picture of two different-colored Thanksgiving drinks where one is in front and partially covers the other. Taking a top view picture of these colorful drinks also yields remarkable results. Try to experiment with colors, angles, and lighting. Your Thanksgiving will never be boring.

Taking out your compact or dSLR camera during Thanksgiving would give you the chance to have beautiful pictures of wonderful, happy people and interesting, colorful objects. However, the most important thing is you captured precious moments with people close to you.
