This dark thinking will then lead you to self questioning: "is he/she really the one for me?", why can't he/she be as romantic?", "they look so contented and happy, why can't I?".

If you are single and now your friends are in a relationship. You see them kiss, hug, display their affection for each other- making you feel more discontented and lonely even with your partner. Yet, we don't really know what's in the minds of our friends. If those kisses and smiles are real and genuine. Maybe, deep inside them, they are bored with the same things going about. This is what you call "Grass is Greener" syndrome and it's part of human nature, unfortunately.

Most of the time, women feel this instinctively than men. We want to feel that we are with the best person. Sometimes we are overwhelmed with choices in our lives that we get confused and then look at our friends for some reassurance. When you look at these people you'd assume that they live a happy life and that you should follow them. But would that make me any happier? Will it improve my condition?". Sometimes comparing your love life to someone else will just make your own belief in your love life deteriorate. Continually comparing yourself to your friends blooming romance will just leave you disenchanted with your own. So your partner takes you to dinner and watches movies you like, strolls with you and takes you out to shopping. Then comes your friends who's too eager to share her activities with her partner. The grand gesture they both do for each other, the sweet nothing they exchange and the times they have spent together. Thus will make your think that your partner isn't the one for you. If he really loves you, he should be doing the same things and even more.

So what other things do you have in mind? You split up with your partner only to regret it later. You'll miss the things you both have had, what you could have. Then you might think it's better to be single and be off and long for that promise, empty or not in your mind. Here's the bottomline. Hearing about your friend's expeditions with their partners, pictures of them together in getaways and parties make you feel you are missing out a lot with your partner. With this kind of thinking, you'd get unto more fights with your partner out of sheer jealousy and discontent. But remember, singletons also feel lonely. There are times they just sit in front of the TV eating chips while they remember you and your partner being together and happy. Wishing they have a companion in that time too. You have to get rid of this kind of thinking, it's unhealthy and discontent can be destructive; learn to be thankful with what you have. Spend time with your partner and get to know him in a whole different light.
