Supermarket Law - conveyancing - would you risk it?
Supermarket Law - conveyancing - would you risk it
?
When I go to the supermarket to buy cat litter, bin liners or whatever else, I am amazed by the new services that the supermarkets open up in direct competition to the High Street.
Obviously a shame as the High Street independent shops will soon die out and brand names will dominate. But buying everything under one roof, once a week, say is very convenient
In fact, for many people, a weekend is spent not on a hike with a picnic, swimming as a family, a family cycle with pub snack on the local park trails, at a National Trust property, nearest fun fair, the nearest beach, or inside dry slope skiing but..... at the supermarket (or DIY store) do I draw the line at certain services that supermarkets are now purporting to provide instead of keeping to what they do best - selling food? Such as phones, currency, a cafe, and dry-cleaning. All acceptable I guess, as eating after shopping is a convenience, though the edibility of much of it is questionable.
But I would draw the line at having my eyes tested in a supermarket. Good grief, how risky is that! Whoever attempts to check my eyes am I confident they didn't just get promoted from collapsing boxes last week, or from cleaning the public loos, or from filling the shelves in aisle 49? I think not.
But I also hear that some supermarkets may come into the legal market. Imagine that. Let a supermarket prepare your Will. I can hear my family after I die saying, 'What a fool - he had a supermarket ensure all his money came to us...but the Will is wrong and mistakes were made'. And that is an important thing like a Will.
(Even if the supermarket used regular law firms in the High Street - more likely factory bucket shops - you just know what they will pay them to supply the work.)
Now take a bigger risk shall we....would I let them do the legal work on my house sale or purchase? I can hear my friends and family right this second laughing at me and having pretend burning of money rituals. 'Yes next customer please' 'Er, please can I have a quote for conveyancing' 'Sorry luv, what aisle is that in?'
So I know where I draw the line - I wonder if you do.
