Adam: Steve, the subtitle of your book is surviving and prospering with climate change. When should I start my global warming survival preparations?

Steve: When should you start your preparations? Yesterday. The race for survival has started. Unfortunately, the vast majority of people havent started yet and that is very saddening. Starting preparations before panic ensues is crucial. Once panic develops it will get much, much harder as competition eventually becomes fierce. Those who start now have the luxury of doing it gracefully, safely, inexpensively. Especially when they take the right steps.

Imagine you live in New Orleans and its 3 months before hurricane Katrina. Somehow you know with 100% certainty that Katrina will happen. What would you have done with that knowledge? Maybe sell your house and move? Maybe stay, but brace for it Get better insurance for you property? What else? And when would you have done that? When its already happening (and I dont know any company that sells home insurance during a hurricane, and I dont know anyone that would buy a home during a hurricane), or would you start preparing 3 months in advance?

Now we know for sure that global warming is happening and we see the tip of the iceberg in the intensity of hurricanes, the intensity of earthquakes, and these will start affecting our lives more and more because local economies have started to be affected, and more importantly it shifts how people think because everyone wants to know how they will be impacted by global warming. And in terms of action everyone has to make their own decision now.
