Sustaining Spas With Spa Chemical Supplies
The luxury of a spa in the house for the use of the entire family is a great one and something that is very enjoyable
. However, like every other personal product or that which involves contact with the human body, it needs to be sanitized regularly and carefully to avoid any build up of harmful bacteria. Failure to do so would result in skin related problems and that will in turn make matters worse for others using the spa.
A number of spa sanitisers are available ranging from chemicals specially formulated to non-chemical formulations. While the chemical ones do carry an odour and can cause some irritation to specific types of skin if not used in the right quantity, the non-chemical ones are relatively less harsh on the skin. Other methods such as using electricity also exist for cleaning the water.
In this article, we are concentrating on spa chemical supplies which can make a difference to your spa remaining sanitised and hygienic.
a) Chlorine has been used since many years as a very common sanitiser and while it is very effective in its action, the only problem is its odour that tends to put people off. However, considering that it is not expensive and easily available, it should be used by you regularly through the year so that your spa remains germ free. Take care to use sodium di-chlor and also use the stabilizer for greater effect.
b) Next on the list is bromine. Chemically it has a similar structure to that of bromine and is also easy to use. It is affordable and does a good job in cleaning the water. However it also has the property of reducing or lowering the pH of the water and in order to prevent that from happening, some neutralization needs to be carried out in order to ensure that the spa does not get damaged. The best aspect of this cleaner is this is odourless and all you need to do is use it along with an oxidant like ozone so that its cleaning action gets activated.
c) Ozone has an advantage over both chlorine and bromine in that it is not a chemical. But since its cleaning action is not as effective, it needs to be used along with either of these chemicals. Ozone has the ability to reduce odour and thanks to its oxidant properties, it is able to stimulate the cleaning action of these chemicals far better. The cost is not prohibitive and the only thing you need to check is the quantity that can be used for indoor spas.
The above three are the most common spa chemical supplies in use. People however are becoming more conscious about the effect of these cleaning agents on the environment and are looking at 'greener' chemicals along with other options in order to sanitise their spas. One non-chemical method used is that of ionisers which help clean the water in the spa by making use of electric current generated between the copper as well as silver electrodes. This method is becoming very popular due to its safety, odourless operation and non use of any chemicals.
