Diabetes is majorly classified into two types. Type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is also known by the names as early onset diabetes or insulin dependent diabetes as it common to young adults and teenagers and insulin is a must dose.

Type 2 diabetes is known by the names adult onset diabetes or insulin independent diabetes as it is to people who are above 40 years plus age and insulin is not a must over here. The other major type of diabetes is gestational diabetes, which is to women during second half of pregnancy.

Adult onset diabetes symptoms appear slowly. Most of the times people don't feel they are suffering with any kind of disease. Diabetes is deadly if left ignored it leads to severe complications if treatment is not given properly.

Adult onset diabetes is because of the body unable to regulate blood glucose levels or if the receptors of the cells fail to react to the insulin produced which is commonly known as insulin resistance.

The most common symptoms of type 2 diabetes are

Excessive urination

Increase in appetite

Increased thirst

Unexplained weight loss

Increased susceptibility to infections.

Type 2 diabetes if ignored it affects the various parts of the body.

Neuropathy : The longest nerves in the body that are in the legs are damaged first and this causes numbness in feet and tingling in feet. The diabetes also affects other functions of the body like digestion, urination and sexual function.

Foot issues: Sores and blisters appear on foot which is mainly due to nerve damage which causes numbness in feet. There is irritation in skin and break down of skin causes ulcers. Blood circulation is low and wound healing is very poor.

Nephropathy: Damage to the kidneys is likely as blood glucose level is high.

Retinopathy: Tiny blood vessels are damaged at the back of the eye due to high blood sugar levels. It can be minimized by controlling blood sugar levels. Untreated retinopathy leads to permanent blindness.

The good thing about type 2 diabetes is that it can be avoided and controlled unlike type 1 diabetes. In type 1 diabetes insulin injections are must. Type 2 diabetic people need to take part in physical activities and eat food which is rich in fiber content.
