The Disk Defragmentation tool is under the System Tools of Accessories in the Programs Menu. All you have to do is click on the Disk Defragmentation tool. When the tool begins, choose the drives you want to defragment. You may select all drives at once or proceed with individual drives. Please note that this procedure may take from a few minutes to a few hours. It depends on the volumes of fragmented files in your system. Therefore, you must begin the procedure at a time when you need not use your computer. Running the defragmentation tool overnight can be a good idea for working professionals.
With continuous usage of a hard drive, increasing number of disk errors is generated by the system. These errors devour huge resources of the system. Thus, they can comprehensively decrease the performance of the PC. Therefore, running the Disk Error Checking tool is a good idea to address this issue. Before running the error checking utility, you must shut down all open files. Then open the Computer or My Computer folder. Then right click on the drive on which you want to run the error checking. Select Properties and click on Tools. Under Tools, select Check Now. Then from Check Disk or Error Checking, check the option Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors. Now click on Start to begin the process.
