System-built Home - Can This Be Your Choice?
The house is a culmination of dreams - the realization of a long range plan and savings
. And just like everything around us, home building has also evolved into one new type - the system built home. Although this comprise of three kinds - the modular, wooden and panelized, people generalize this home building style as modular.
System-built home defined -
This structure is built in the factory or in some manufacturing plants. The finished product is taken and transported to the site. Then, the local builders will assemble them at the site, position then collectively. Does this sound like jigsaw puzzle? Generally, system houses have the same look and appearance. Their built and structure are also almost identical - far from any custom-built house.
Modular, panelized and log homes
Modular homes are houses that are cut-out completely in the factory, built in this same industry plant. The parts are brought to the construction site as being transported by special trucks or loaders. Pre-prepared foundations are already ready and upon the arrival of these parts in the site, these are assembled and then laid in the foundation. There are only few workers performing the simple task of assembly. When transported, the sections of the house are almost 90% finished and built in the factory.
Panelized homes are residential structures having wall panels that had already been manufactured in the company's factory. Almost all of these panels are open wall parts. These consist of external jackets which would allow for insulation, wiring and plumbing. These panels are brought to the site, joined and assembled thereat by a number of workers.
Log homes are houses that were built from logs or differently shaped-pieces of wooden frames. They also vary in sizes and structures. In contrast to the other two, log homes have varied designs so much so that sometimes, they are mistaken for custom-design house.
Benefits from this type of construction
This method is a fast way of constructing houses. One reason could be the simultaneous work, production and construction on-site and off-site. Time is one benefit of this - for both the homeowner and builder as the building time is reduced to half because of the simultaneous job undertaking. Production of the panels in the factory is systematic and there is less error in the materials' production process in the factory. This is an economical approach to home building thus you do not only save time but money, as well. Many would conclude that these types of houses are value for money.
The houses are built fast and when constructed they are subjected to different conditions as test for destruction. Furthermore, they are built in controlled conditions - inside a factory and never outdoor.
These abodes are constructed using tested techniques and they were designed to be energy efficient. This quality is oftentimes attributed to the substantial superior materials for the construction. The modular parts are better than its on-site built counterpart.
It seems that a system-built home has too many advantages - too good to be true so many would say. And it is predicted to be the types of house in the new century because the increase in desirability is in the upward trend.
