Take a Vacation

My yearly vacation is the thing that I most look forward to each year

. The chance to get away from the daily work and routine of everyday life is a lifesaver. Everyone needs to get away at least once a year and recharge their batteries and get rested. Well, most people don't get rested on their vacation because they like to jam pack it full of things and events.

I am like everyone else, I always over book my vacation and try to fit more into that few days than I would ever try to do normally. But hey, there's nothing wrong with trying to fit in all the things you love to do but never have time to do with the people that you never get to do things with. So whatever you do, don't waste that few days.

Make sure that you take advantage of every second of every day. But at least try and leave the last day free to catch up on some sleep and get ready to go back to work. I always like to schedule at least one full day back at home to get settled back in before I go back to work. I say I always try to do that, that doesn't mean it always happens. But in these tougher times, spending a lot of extra money, which might not be extra this year, on a frivolous vacation can seem a bit irresponsible. That doesn't mean that you should forfeit a vacation all together.

There are so many things that can be done locally or on the cheap that are fun and exciting. For people that live near enough to the coast, there are plenty of beautiful beaches up and down the east coast. North Carolina and Florida and South Carolina and Alabama have plenty of beautiful beaches to visit. Just make sure you try to keep away from the touristy spots and don't visit those tacky t-shirt shops, if you buy something there, you will just encourage them to build more.

A vacation to the beach can be done pretty cheaply, especially if you know someone that you can stay with or someone that has a place you can use. It is pretty stress free and easy to pull off in times of low cash reserves. Another option is camping. I know, I know, camping is not for everybody, but for some people it can be a perfect vacation.
