You should exercise many precautions when you are taking care of a laptop computer
. The technology inside of a laptop is much more advanced than what is included in a desktop and therefore you need to take extra special care with your laptop computers.
The first thing that you should worry about is cleaning the screen. Because of the thinness of the screen on a laptop, they will usually gather a large amount of dust very quickly. It is very tempting just to use your hand to wipe off the dust. But, the oil from your fingers will rub off on to the screen and make annoying smudges. Try to use a lint-free rag whenever possible. Never spray your screen with any kind of cleaner except computer screen cleaner spray.
Another thing that you should think about when you are taking care of a laptop computer is that dust on the keyboard. When you close a laptop computer, a lot of the dust from the screen will fall onto the keyboard. It is your responsibility to keep this area clean. For the most part, dust will not really affect the way that your keyboard works. However, over time a dust buildup can cause keys to stop working. An easy way to clear the dust is to simply dry your mouth of all saliva and give it a quick blow of cool air. However, if you want to get it really clean then you should pick up an aerosol dust-spraying can and spray air in between all of the keys.
You should also exercise care when you are changing the battery in your laptop. Be careful not to get any moisture on any of the connections or they could be ruined for good. Also, exercise caution as to where you leave and store your laptop. Leave it out of extreme temperatures and always keep it in a place that is relatively dry.
