Indian auto major Tata Motors is planning to come up with a 800cc small car
. The car is likely to be seen in the Indian market by the year 2012. As per the industry sources, this small car has been codenamed as Dolphin. The development process of the car is going on with the help and efforts of engineers of Tata company. It is being expected that this new product of Tata will be give a tough competition to Maruti Alto . This new Tata product will be positioned between Tata Indica and Tata Nano. Whereas Tata Nano comes below the price tag of Rs 2 lakh, the price tag of Tata Indica begins at Rs. 2.8 lakh. That is why, the auto experts say that there is definitely a possible gap in the product line of Tata Motors and this gap might be filled with another small model by the company. The company has already started working on this project. Generally, the company remains tight-lipped about its various upcoming plans and does not utter any details for the same but sources close to developments of company's plans indicate towards the recent developments that are going on inside the company. Even at this time, there is no official information from Tata Motors for any such launch of a 800cc small car in the Indian market in the coming time. The only indicative statement that came from Carl Peter Forster, MD and CEO, Tata Motors stated that there is a white space available between the Tata Nano and Tata Indica and the company can be looking at that space. Looking on the other upcoming developments of company, the people's car Tata Nano will soon be available in three different forms. This model has received popularity since the time of its launch. But the model will have to keep on doing certain developments so that it would be able to keep up with its future rivals. The recent news about this model is that Nano will soon be seen in diesel, electric and automatic versions in the Indian market.
