It has been a whirlwind of a year for Swift, who struck gold when she first released the single "Love Story" way back in September 2008 that marked the debut of Fearless. The album awakened a new spirit in the former teen starlet who wrote about broken relationships and best friends, as tracks like "Fifteen" and "Belong with Me" all hit the airwaves strong and remained popular with fans. One after another of her tracks topped the charts, streamlined country and pop radio stations and restored country music everywhere.

The bony-framed Pennsylvania native eventually saw Fearless become one of the only albums to get thirteen Top 40 hits.

This was also the year that Swift not only gave country music the biggest crossover success in history, but also found a way to harmonize the two worlds in discomfort - thanks in part to MTV and the infamous Kanye West. This year's Video Music Awards not only handed Swift the first-ever award to a country star, but it was also one for sanity when the industry's favorite rapper to hate stormed onstage following Swift's win for Best Female Video to shout Beyonce's praises. Though Swift doesn't mention the event anymore, it still reels everyone's minds, particularly Kanye's as his upcoming tour and career subsequently went bust.

The fan-friendly youngster who is as dedicated to her music as she is her social media networks - constantly posting new videos and blogs - earns top honors when it comes to awards voted by fans. Even without the fame that former reigning Female Vocalist Carrie Underwood has from American Idol, Swift has time and time again proved that reaching out to the fans makes a big difference - four times the success difference.
