Taylor Swift's Back to December Lyrics Make Apologies Hurt

Taylor Swift's "Back to December" has lyrics that are crushing, with such excellent one liners as "And then the cold came, the dark days when fear crept into my mind," and "But if we loved again, I swear I'd love you right." As you may know, and as the song lyrics make crystal clear, the song is of great personal interest to Taylor herself, who admitted the apology song was written in memory of an ex-lover she spurned.

There is some speculation that her lover was the "Twilight" film's Taylor Lautner, her ex-boyfriend, though there has never been any official confirmation. Swift stated that she may have made some mistakes and learned some of life's hard lessons, which explain the mistake and the longing for last December, a time of innocence and a moment of winter happiness, as the Back to December lyrics express.

The whirlwind of international fame even distracted her from earning a high school diploma, at least until 2008.
