Teaching Seo
For those of you who don't know, SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation
. It is the natural process of online link building for the purpose of improving rank in Search results. It is an online marketing technique that, while perhaps not as sexy as social media, works very well. I can't imagine that people who spend their days writing Search Engine Optimisation content find it overly stimulating, but when one sets out to go educated people in it, there is a degree of excitement that is aroused.
What are the most exciting parts of SEO? A few include:
1. Link building:
There is something very exciting about links circulating around the internet, especially when they are associated with you. Links can circulate as the result of you planting them in obvious places like articles and press releases, or they could circulate naturally and socially, like in the comment you leave on a blog post. By joining a conversation you are adding value, engaging the author of the post as well as their other readers and also optimising yourself. To leave a comment on a blog post you have to sign in which means leaving your URL behind. People are able to find you, and are certain to look if they like what you had to say.
2. Online networking:
If your URL is your online business card, then it would make sense for you to hand it out to as many contacts and valuable people as you can. By conversing with people on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and blog posts you are link building. You are signed in and traceable which means that you're being optimised. The internet is like being required to give out your business card before you start to talk to someone.
3. Seeing the results:
One of the best parts about the internet is that everything is measurable. If you are as results-oriented as me and my colleagues that will speak volumes to you. You can see how many people have visited your site one month, where they looked, how long they spent, and how they got there in the first place. You can see which online marketing channels are working best for you and focus your attention on those. You can see which keywords are improving the most and focus on others.
So while embedding keyword rich content into 3% of your body and submitting articles about nothing much all over the web regularly might not seem like your cup of tea, there are some really cool aspects to SEO.
