Telemetry Module For Railway Industry
The iMod platform is such a versatile solution that it has been approved by the railway industry
. NPE/iMod can operate as a remote controller, notify module and a data logger. Users can configure their own visualisation interface on the NXDynamics Web platform, providing constant access to parameters and status of devices in real time.
Due to a large number of communication interfaces (COM, Ethernet, USB, ZigBee, GPRS/EDGE serial ports) users can connect any automation and IT system, such as inverters and servo motors. In addition, due to wireless communication via the GSM network, the communications infrastructure costs and the risk of communication failure decrease. Currently, users can view the status of rail crossings or railway switches all around the country. In addition, large capacity of the built-in memory (the NPE/iMod platform supports the SD/MMC external cards with the capacity of up to 2GB) allows to log data with high frequency, archive data locally or send data periodically to a main unit.
Another advantage of the NPE/iMod telemetry module is an interactive interface and local management logic on the device, which allows to control modern LED displays, which are used in railway signalling. Variable message signs and huge energy savings due to the use of new technology results in reduction of fixed costs and further, gradual development of new functionalities e.g., malfunction or delay notification.
NPE/iMod is an open platform, which allows to view the key parameters in real time such as, current speed, average speed, estimated arrival time at the next station and the data from a GPS transmitter determining the position for a specified period e.g., the previous year. A number of built-in digital inputs/outputs together with the external relay modules can control both the railway switches and crossings. Status of the elements of the railway infrastructure is instantly updated in the visualization created with the NXDynamics Web interface, located on the NPE/iMod device.
Due to a unique Modbus Event communication, the NPE/iMod device can send event-triggered SMS messages, e-mails or information to the host application in case of any malfunction. Issues such as a railway switch jam or lack of power over a part of the route is immediately sent to a dispatching centre. In addition, the computer logs information about the time when the dispatcher received a notice and when the malfunction was fixed. The NPE/iMod ZigBee version of the controller allows data collection from devices located on the route. The devices are placed systematically every 1 km and are used for collecting power consumption and identification data of a running train. Next, all the information is updated on a server. This way both the energy supplier and the client can check current receivables.
Very often additional information is necessary e.g., on the person who
modus tcp performed a service and the time of the service. Users can write all the necessary details concerning services (with the service technicians ID, additional information on the condition of the train) with a Web browser. All the data can be recorded in the SQL database (both on the device and an external server).
