Tempting Restaurants In Whitby Make It Hard To Stick To A Budget

No matter how hard my husband and I try to stick to a budget

, it's always hard to stay away from all the delicious restaurants in Whitby.

We've sworn off going out to eat time and time again, but I'm pretty sure that in our marriage of two and a half years, we've only been able to make it for a month or so avoiding restaurants, and then we've given in like the true weaklings we are.

There are a few reasons that our in home dining goals have been unsuccessful. The first problem that we have faced is that with both of us working there are some days when we are both just plain too exhausted to cook.

This usually happens on Thursday or Friday when we both start to feel like we're just kind of living in survival mode until we can sleep in on Saturday morning. It's amazing how adding a little bit of exhaustion into the equation can make the cooking task seem so daunting.

Our next problem has to do with coupons that come in the mail. When you get a coupon from a restaurant saying that you can buy one meal and get the other free, it's hard to stay at home knowing that you paid for the groceries used to prepare both of your meals.

Even if preparing a meal for the whole family at home would have been cheaper in the long run, it's really easy to fall into the buy one get one free trap, especially if it includes happy hour deals.

The last trial that we come up against when we're trying to be disciplined in our budgeting is all of these restaurants that are willing to give you free food when you do their telephone or internet surveys.

One of our favorite restaurants has a phone number that you can call on your receipt if you want to get a free dessert. All you have to do is answer one question and a scrumptious piece of bread pudding or brownie is yours.

Of course when we go in to claim our free dessert, we always end up buying dinner too, or at least an appetizer. These restaurants definitely know what they're doing.

So, it turns out that the restaurants in Whitby are just too tempting for my husband and I to pass by, and we usually end up eating out at least once a week. I guess it's about time that we try to think of a different way to stick to our budget and put a little bit of money in our savings.
