Located in the South East, Tennessee is the 36th largest state of the USA
, with a populace of over 6,214,900. Tennessee shares margins with Virginia and Kentucky at the top and Mississippi to the south. Most of the east of the state is unseen by the Appalachian Mountain range. Nashville, with more than 626,150 inhabitants, is the second largest city in the state and also the capital of Tennessee.
Integrated in the 1770s on a frontier pact, the state is located on the Watauga Association. The state was in fact first a part of North Carolina and afterward a part of the Southwest country as well. It was only on June 1, 1796 that Tennessee was acknowledged as 16th state in the union. In the early 1800s the state was renowned for being hometown to some of USs most interesting politicians including Sam Houston and Andrew Jackson. When the Civil War broke out in 1861, Tennessee left the Union to unite with the confederacy. By the end of the War, the state was again a part of the union. A majority of the soldiers were from Tennessee. The political record of the state is mired with racial rivalries with the configuration of the Ku Klux Klan in Pulaski (1866) to the assassination of Martin Luther King in Memphis in 1968.
In 1900s, with fractional economic support from the Tennessee Valley Authority, Tennessee switched to an assorted economy from a principally agriculture based economy. By the opening of 1940, Tennessee had built the first Atom bomb in the world at Oak Ridge.
The people of Tennessee are renowned for their love of music. In reality Tennessee has given a great deal in the advancement of rock-n-roll. The blues music is said to have originated around the Beale Street in Memphis with composers including W.C. Handy having played in clubs in the early 1900s. Memphis is also famed for being abode of Sun Records which is just where rock stars like Elvis Presley started their initial tracks.
