The Accidental Snowboarder – Surf's Up!
Felicity is a great surfer and wake boarder and spends almost every weekend with
her buddies at the nearest beach or lake doing what she does best.
Her birthday was coming up one January and her well to do friends surprised her when they told her that for her birthday, they had all clubbed together to take her on a boarding holiday to Mammoth Mountain in sunny California.
"That sounds like such a cool place, I will bring my brand new board!" she said as she thanked all her friends for such a lovely gesture.
The week of her birthday arrived and all her bikinis, swimsuits and sun tan lotion were packed along with her new surf board and new wakeboard. This was going to be such an amazing trip, she thought to herself.
Felicity met her buddies at the airport and some of them looked strangely at the boards she had packed, but everyone was far too excited and distracted to say anything. After lots of talking, laughing and perhaps a little too much alcohol, Felicity was pretty much passed out for much of the flight to Mammoth Mountain.
Felicity, barely remembered anything about the transfers from the airport to her room, she was so tired! On arriving at the accommodation, she checked in and slept right through until morning.
After an hour applying fake tan and deciding which bikini to wear, Felicity was ready to hit the waves. She grabbed her surfboard and headed out the door.
She opened the door and was startled to be met with an icy blast and a snow storm! Her friends were all waiting for her and when they saw her in her pink bikini with surfboard under arm, they struggled to contain their amusement. Okay, they were rolling around on the floor howling with laughter!
Felicity was more than a little embarrassed and couldn't quite work out how she had gotten everything so very wrong about this trip!
Determined not to be humiliated, she taped her feet to the board and hit the slopes and raced off down the hill. The fake tan did a reasonable job of hiding all her goose bumps as she painfully shivered but it also left a streaky trail behind her in the snow!
Her friends followed this trail on their own
snowboards to find Felicity at the bottom of the hill, shaking uncontrollably, mildly frostbitten and in serious need of medical attention.
The next morning, everyone expected Felicity to remain in bed but when they got to the piste, they spotted the familiar trail of fake tanning oil in the snow ahead of them and a bunch of bemused snowboarders pointing in the direction she had set off.
It was the best surfing trip Felicity had even been on!
