The Bastakiya Quarter - A Picturesque Step Into Dubais Past

Deriving its name from the town of Bastak in Southern Iran, this heritage site was built by Persian Merchants in the 19th Century. The area belonging to Bastakia hosts some of the well known Buildings such as the Al Fahidi Fort - the oldest building in Dubai built in the 1780s. The Fort also houses the Dubai Museum. The Bait Al Wakeel, the Majlis Gallery, Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding and the XVA Art Gallery are other important locations within the Bastakia Quarter.
