, so if you are driving, don't just settle on a compact car as a means of saving money on gasoline. Gas prices are high, but there are other factors to consider, especially if you are traveling with other adults or even a large family.

If you are just driving with one other adult and are traveling light, a compact car might be the best option. But you don't want to stuff more than two kids or even two adults into the back seat of a compact. They bring luggage also and that could really cause an uncomfortable drive and ruin the vacation.

If you have two adults or more than two kids, don't go for the compact. You'll have a miserable trip to your destination, and that is the fun part of the trip. Imagine the bickering and complaining on the way home when the trip is all over and there's no vacation to look forward to. Make sure everyone has room to spread out for that boring ride home.

Also, remember that you will be going home with more than you left with. Souvenirs, new cloths, and many other nick-naks are going to require a lot of extra space. If you leave home with a well-packed trunk, you might be going home with an overflowing trunk. Always leave home with ample room in the trunk and that might not be provided by a compact car.

So while it may seem like a wise decision to choose the smallest car at the cheapest price you may lose comfort and enjoyment from your holiday if you are choosing a vehicle that is too small for your needs. It really is no savings to have a miserable time being cramped in to a car that is too small.
