The Benefits Of Ballroom Dance Studios
When I was a kid, my mother forced my brother and me to go to a very well known dance studio for lessons every Saturday
. Needless to say, 10 and 12 year old boys could imagine much better ways to spend their hours on a Saturday morning or afternoon. I am not complaining, I did not understand back then, but my mother was preparing us to be well-rounded individuals, who could dance their way in and out of many social situations.
What I remember most about the class was that with the exception of 3 or 4 boys with forward thinking mothers, the students were usually adult males and the instructors were a husband and wife team. We would have to learn how to dance both ways, as there were never enough female partners. I guess all the girls were taking ballet.
The instructors were middle aged and there approach was very methodical and earnest, very typical for the approach to learning in those days. What's interesting, that now, as an adult, now there are more ladies than men. So, there are plenty of beautiful and interesting women to bring me to dance class.
Dance lessons are a fun and entertaining endeavor
These days, dance studios are literally light years ahead of the dance lessons that we took as children. Today, studios offer dance lessons of every type from Swing to Meringue. Much of the differences are driven by the change in attitude towards ballroom dance. Our generation sees dance as more of an activity for daily life. Ballroom dancing is no longer just considered a hobby.
