The Benefits of Growing An Organic Garden

Growing an organic garden has many health benefits. Did you know that commercial farmers use pesticides and steroids to help their gardens grow. Those chemicals are then absorbed by the plants and go right into the vegetables themselves. That means that when we eat those vegetables, we are also getting those chemicals into our bodies. It is those chemicals that have been linked to causing diseases and cancer.

By growing an organic garden, we eliminate those chemicals from getting into our body because we don't use those chemicals to grow our garden. Instead of the traditional way of growing your vegetables in the ground, many people use compost to grow their vegetables. Composts are made up of organic materials such as grass clippings, leaves, tree cuttings, even old newspapers. Yes newspapers, they are bio-degradeable. These items actually help our vegetables grow bigger and more nutrient rich. When growing an organic garden, we use all natural items to feed it. Items such as leftover table scraps, fruit peels from bananas, oranges, grapefruits, and apple cores can all be used. These all provide very good nutrients for our garden.

The health benefits from all of this are numerous. There are no "bad" chemicals getting into our bodies. Vegetables grown this way are more nutrient rich than any other way of growing them. They are also higher in fiber which is important in keeping your colon cleansed, thus reducing the risks of getting cancer.

Another benefit of growing an organic garden is the savings. I personally save over $3000.00 per year in grocery bills. All I have to do is go outside and pick what I want to eat that day. My garden grows all year round too.
