Warsaw became the capital of Poland in 1596.

The author of that move is still remembered until today since when approaching Old Town you can see and admire a monument presenting king Sigismund III of the Swedish House of Vasa.

Warsaw was destroyed during World War II, after bombing in 1945 but as you would be able to see the city was rebuild and there is a lot of pre-war architecture style in many buildings in the Old and New Town (Warsaw's historic Old Town was inscribed onto UNESCO's World Heritage list).

Warsaw is the biggest and most attractive city in Poland and also a great place to go for a weekend trip

7. Warsaw Uprising Museum -Opened in 2004, the 60th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising, this museum was a long time in the making. It was worth the wait. Set in the sombre, industrial surroundings of a converted tram power plant, the museum tells the tale of a city ravaged by the brutality of the Second World War.

8. Warsaw University Library - at ul. Dobra 56/66, a stylish fantasy building with a garden on its roof.

9. Golden Terraces shopping centre.

10. Wilanw Palace - Dubbed the Versailles of Poland, this baroque palace was saved from the retreating Nazis by its location on Warsaw's outskirts, which escaped the obliteration that befell the centre.
