The Blackberry Curve 3g Has Dedicated Social Network Integration

Blackberry and RIM have been busy, they have been making generous modifications to there popular Curve handset

. The outcome is the Blackberry Curve 3G 9300, the device has been loaded with the app based Blackberry OS 5, and though it isnt as agile as Android or iOS it does deliver a rich smartphone experience with superb support for messaging and web surfing. The Curve 3G is well serviced with Wi Fi, 3G and GPS, and it integrates your social networks for full account management.

The basic design of the device is based on last years successful 8320 model, the main visual difference is the chrome trimming which frames the phones 2.4 inch transmissive, LCD display and full QWERTY keyboard. The horizontal screen is colourful and well sized making it ideal for web browsing and messaging. To navigate the interface Blackberry has stuck with the optical track pad; it is incredibly responsive and intuitive, scrolling and selecting is performed in one fluent motion.

An update has been promised to Curve 3G users, the device uses the Blackberry OS 5 but the OS 6 is available as an update. Making do with the OS 5 you will find the phone pretty samey. But for Blackberry fans samey could be just what you are looking, the generic layout of the application based menu provides its users with a simple and full overview of everything with main widgets leading to sub menus and sub menus offering an abundance of choice where messaging and entertainment is concerned.

The Curve 3G has dedicated social network integration which enables full management of MySpace, Twitter and Facebook accounts; in general they can be a little clunky to work with but due to the depth of each application this can be forgiven. As the name suggests the device utilises 3G technology which allows for consistent, high speed connectivity and great support for the SNS aspects the phone has. Wi Fi is another reliable connection Blackberry has thrown in; great web connectivity is possible when in the catchment of a local wireless hotspot.

Blackberrys famous Messenger application is in place as an alternative form of communication, the specialized Blackberry feature has become a popular IM across the world and the Curve 3G is an affordable route for access. E-mail accounts can be set up with the phone and basic SMS and MMS messaging is also included. The QWERTY keyboard offers unrivalled support for messaging, for me the Curve model offers the best keyboard; the individual keys are well spaced and though they are small they are still easy to hit, a little click gives you sufficient feedback when keying in your messages, you will find yourself putting together messages and e-mails in record time.

Where media and entertainment are concerned the Curve 3G is a little limited, the 2MP camera supplies users with a basic photo capture and video recording tool, all content can be uploaded to the likes of YouTube and your social networks. A music player delivers typical playback options with standard controls and a modernized skin and the video player can handle multiple codecs. There is a selection of games for users to play and the memory can be upgraded with a microSD card.

The Blackberry Curve 3G is ideal for loyal users and Blackberry newbies, the interface is user friendly and the QWERTY keyboard is brilliant for creating long messages. The device is mid-ranged and has phones like the Nokia C6 and Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro to contend with and both phones are far more media rich than the Blackberry. But neither have the best keyboard on the market of the popular Blackberry Messenger.
