The Care A Jewish Orphanage Should Provide

When it comes to orphans, it's a sad truth that Israel has a great deal of them

. It's a tough situation going on down there and a lot of turmoil is taking kids away from their parents. Because of this, Jewish orphanages are incredibly important in raising kids in a proper way and giving them the safety that others may not be able to provide, or that they may not be able to find on their own. Every orphanage should have basic care and necessities.

First, it's important that an orphanage has enough space for all the children that are intended to be taken in. It can be very easy to overcrowd a place, so there should be space or room for expansion if need be. Just a roof over their heads isn't enough, it needs to be clean, spacious and comfortable. Of course, three meals a day and a well rounded diet is important too. Kids need a lot of nutrients and vitamins and so the food you prepare for them in-house should have all the food groups.

Orphans also need a good education that they wouldn't otherwise get because of their situation. No matter what age, they need a lesson plan appropriate to them and their learning ability. Class space is important and needs to be separate from other rooms so that the kids know that they have a learning area specific for doing their work, away from distractions.

It's also important that there's a lot of interaction. The worst situation for a child to be in is when he or she gets sent to an orphanage with other boys or girls, only to not get the proper socialization he or she needs. It should be encouraged for the kids to interact and make friends, as well as staff to take a moment for a child if they can. The most well adjusted kids grow up with a good foundation of friends and family around them and these new people in their lives can become that family that they don't have, even if they aren't blood related.

Every child deserves food, a place to sleep, a good education and a support system of friends and adults who can provide guidance. It is important for them in order to grow up into a well rounded adult who hopefully can go on and speak positively on his or her experiences. It's all you can hope for in every child's upbringing.
