The Celebration of Single Awareness Day

Are you a single? Do you have any idea to survive your next single awareness day? Do you know the celebration of singles in the other end of world? People have different celebration ways and understanding of the day as the different culture background.

In eastern countries, 11th November is the single's day, especially in China. There are many versions of single's Day. It is widely recognized that the single's Day derived from the campus culture in Nanjing universities at 1990. In China, people call this day as "Guanggun" Day. The single boys were called "Guangguang" while the single girls were called "Mingming". If they find a boyfriend or girlfriend at the day, they were called "Shuangshuang" (Shuang means double or couple in China).

This day also has its own mascot which seems very special. The mascot is four twisted crullers (twisted crullers is a Chinese-style breakfast food which looks like number "1") and one egg. The four twisted crullers means the four numbers "1" and the egg means the dot of the day "1111". At the day, young single people have their special ways to celebrate it no matter they are at work or still in school.

If their friends have boyfriend or girlfriend, the lovers should send a gift to the single. It is a way to share happiness. And then the singles could arrange a schedule to have a productive day.

Firstly, a gift is an indispensable part of the celebration. They will go shopping online because many products have a biggest discount. They purchase bags, shoes, clothes as an encouragement for themselves. Secondly, they will go to the cinema with single friends. After that, it is time to have a dinner. Enjoying your favorite food is a great way to forget loneliness. You may desire to have a dinner with the one you beloved or feel lonely at other time. But when you face the delicious food, you could put all worries or annoyance away at the day. Finally they will do whatever you need to do to be happy, such as go skating, playing bowling and so on.

But in western countries, the day was called singles awareness day (SAD) which celebrated on February 14th, but someone prefers the 13th, 15th February. On this day, single people gather together to celebrate or commiserate in their single status.

In South Korea, singles gather together to estate noodles with soybean paste to express the sympathy.

No matter which kind of celebration, no matter where you are, make a vow to yours. Commit to yourself that you won't settle until you are ready! Happy is the most important thing at that day!
