The Constitution From Scratch
In 1787, the United States Constitution was written
. The completion took place in the same year on the month of September. In June 1788, the ninth state had ratified if but there were more proposals.
Here's a chronological list of important events that took place from drafting the constitution to ratifying it:
1786
September 11- Annapolis Convention starts
October 11- Congress forms committee to review the report of the Annapolis Convention
1787
February 21- Congress decides for a constitutional convention
March 14- Rhode Island refuses to vote for delegates
May 5- Rhode Island refuses again to vote for delegates
May 14- First meeting of Philadelphia Convention
May 25- Convention convenes with quorum
May 29- Edmund Randolph presents the Virginia Plan to Convention
June 11- Roger Sherman proposes Connecticut Compromise
June 15- William Paterson presents New Jersey Plan
June 16- Rhode Island rejects for the 3rd time election of delegates
June 23- Convention forms Committee of Detail headed by John Rutledge. The committee was formed to put down a draft containing the agreements made by the Convention up to such time
September 8- Convention forms Committee of Style headed by William Samuel Johnson. It was established to create and revise the genuine transcript of the Constitution
September 17- Proposed Constitution is signed
September 20- Proposed Constitution is read before Congress
September 26- Proposed Constitution is debated in Congress
September 28- Proposed Constitution is submitted to the states by Congress

October 17- Convention for ratification (Connecticut)
October 25- Convention for ratification (Massachusetts)
October 26- Convention for ratification (Georgia)
October 31- Convention for ratification (Virginia)
November 6- Chooses convention delegates (Pennsylvania)
November 20- Ratification begins (Pennsylvania)
December 3- Ratification begins (Delaware)
December 7 - Constitution is unanimously ratified (Delaware)
December 11- New Jersey begins ratification
December 12- Constitution is also ratified (Pennsylvania)
December 18- Constitution is unanimously ratified (New Jersey)
December 25- Georgia begins ratification
December 31- Constitution is unanimously ratified (Georgia)
1788
January 3- Ratification begins (Connecticut)
January 9- Constitution is also ratified (Connecticut)
January 9- Massachusetts begins the ratification process
February 6- Constitution is also ratified (Massachusetts)
February 13- Ratification begins (New Hampshire- first part)
March 1- Rhode Island seeks for accepted referendum on the drafted Constitution
March 24- Rhode Island chooses Constitution via referendum
April 21- Maryland begins ratification
April 26- Constitution is also ratified (Maryland)
May 12- South Carolina beings ratification
May 23- Constitution is also ratified (South Carolina)
June 2- Virginia begins ratification
June 17- New York begins ratification
June 18- Ratification begins (New Hampshire- second part)
June 21- Constitution is also ratified (New Hampshire)
June 21- Constitution is already established courtesy by the nine states
June 25- Constitution is also ratified (Virginia)
July 2- Congress forms a committee that initiates the operations of the new government
July 21- Ratification begins (North Carolina- first part)
July 26- Constitution is also ratified (New York)
September 13- Congress schedules the first meeting of the fresh government and the election for Presidency
November 30- Ratification for the second time (North Carolina)
1789
March 4- US's first Congress is elected
April 30- George Washington becomes first US president
September 26- Congress includes twelve amendments (last ten are the Bill of Rights) that will be ratified by the states
November 16- Ratification begins (North Carolina- second part)
November 21- Constitution is also ratified (North Carolina)
1790
January 17- Forms state convention (Rhode Island)
March 1- Ratification begins (Rhode Island- first part)
May 24- Ratification begins (Rhode Island- second part)
May 29- Constitution is also ratified (Rhode Island)
October 17- Peace treaty signed between New York and Vermont, paving the way for the latter's admission to the Union
October 27- Forms state convention (Vermont)
1791
January 9- Vermont begins Ratification begins
January 10- Constitution is also ratified (Vermont)
December 15- Bill of Rights becomes executable after ratification by Virginia
When the Bill of Rights was created, the concerns of the other remaining states were satisfied. It was on January 1791 when the last state ratified it, thus, making the ratification of the constitution unanimous.
