The Correlation Between Lawyers And Attorneys
When it comes to legal jargon we have all heard the words lawyer and attorney
. Do you know the difference between these two terms?
What are their roles and job descriptions? When can you use their services to help you?
These are all good questions. In this article, we will seek to find the answers and come to a greater understanding of the role of lawyers and attorneys in our world today.
A lawyer is someone who is trained in the field of law and provides advice, aid, and assistance on legal matters to their clients. There are many different types of lawyers, just like there are many different types of doctors.
Legal matters can be serious and wide ranging. Having the right type of lawyer with the experience you need, can make the difference in the results that you obtain.
Lawyers may specialize in a number of areas such as bankruptcy, probate, international, or elder law. Some of the types of lawyers include the following: divorce, motor vehicle accident, immigration, family lawyers, accident and personal injury, business and corporate, bankruptcy, employment, and many other types of lawyers.
Each type has experience in dealing with different cases and choosing a specific one that deals with your case is a wise idea. Lawyers serve as both advocates and advisers to their clients.
As advocates, they speak for their clients in court by presenting supportive evidence. As advisers, they counsel their clients on their legal rights and obligations.
Lawyers can interpret laws, apply laws to specific situations, and draft new laws. Much of their work involves researching precedents, which are earlier interpretations of laws and the history of judicial decisions based on each individual law.
They often use precedents and other methods to support their cases in court. Lawyers need to be smart and quick on their feet.
Because of this, lawyers have to go through extensive training to be licensed. Generally lawyers do three years of school on top of their bachelor's degree. They also have to pass several tests which require rigorous studying.
An attorney is a person who is legally appointed by a client. Attorney's are specifically qualified and licensed to act for plaintiffs and defendants in legal proceedings.
A lawyer also conducts suits in court proceedings and represents clients in various legal instances. This means that the term lawyer and attorney mean exactly the same thing.
Now you know that the only difference between a lawyer and attorney is the word. They are both perfectly correlated to each other.
When you need legal advice or council take the time to see a lawyer or attorney. They will be able to guide you in a good direction for your specific needs.
