The Countdown to 2012: Magnetic Pole Shift

Introduction

Speculation is mounting as to what possible events are set to occur on the 12th December 2012. One of the most common predictions is that there is set to be a magnetic pole shift, which would potentially commence a series of life-changing events on our planet with devastating effects.

Magnetic Pole Shift

This belief is that the Earth's magnetic field is weakening and that a complete geomagnetic reversal is imminent. This would mean that the north and south poles would abruptly switch places and the planet would begin to rotate in the opposite direction.

This event occurs in nature approximately every 25,800 years, but as there are very little records of what events took place that far back, it is difficult to explore what likely impact an event of this nature would have on Earth. It is widely accepted, however, that such a cataclysmic event would have repercussions in the form of devastating earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanoes unprecedented in recent history.

Possible effects

#1 - Earth would have no protection from the sun for a period of around 2 weeks to 2 years.

It has been proven that magnetic field essentially filter the suns rays. Without this protection, we would not be able to prevent sun spots and solar storms from playing havoc with our planet and a deadly radioactive radiation would hit our planet.

#2 Devastation of our electronic apparatus.

The Earth's magnetic field governs our ability to use electronic equipment. A pole shift would result in shattering our ability to use GPS and satellites; this would remove our ability to track/navigate planes and boats, whilst any hope of using television, electric heaters, mobile phones, kitchen appliances, internet etc would immediately be removed.

#3 Damaged immune systems.

Chinese medicine has suggested that a lower magnetic field would decrease the level of both human and animals immune systems, essentially making us even more vulnerable to modern diseases/infections such as cancer and AIDS. This would make it significantly harder to recuperate and evolve following the affects of the natural disasters.

NASA has told us that our magnetic fields have begun to change and that a slight shift in the pole has already been registered. They have said that our 11-year sunspot cycle will near its end in 2010, which could potentially bring about the beginning of the pole-switch phenomenon, by which time we will need to be prepared.

Be prepared
