The Difference Between Modern And Traditional Stucco
Because stucco is wet when its applied, it is a very flexibly material that has allowed
many designers and architecture the ease and ability of creating some of the most beautiful and intricate designs to ever be seen on buildings. Most people are interested in using the material for their homes but are not very informed on the differences between traditional and modern stucco.
The first major difference between the traditional and modern version is the mixture that is used. The traditional material is a cement mix that is a combination of water and materials such as lime and sand. The modern version is made differently using sand, Portland cement, and water. Also, there are other additives that are involved in the modern version that were never used in traditional kind. People that use the modern version may find things such as glass fibers, or acrylics, which hare added to give more texture to the material.
The weight of the stucco is also different between the traditional and modern. The traditional has much more weight to it, looks authentic, and tends to be heavier. This causes a significant difference because the heaviness creates a gap between the durability of modern and traditional stucco. Because the traditional version is heavier, the walls are less like likely to suffer damage, and they may also sound more solid than walls that are using the modern version.
When it comes to choosing between traditional and modern, the traditional proves to be more resilient and durable, however it may be more difficult to come by. Most masonry services and professional home renovators use a modern form, and although it may look and feel like traditional stucco, it simply doesn't have the same characteristics.
