Analogue oscilloscopes have a varying brightness of display, when they sample frequencies because they are effectively displaying the exact strength of the frequency as sampled. So if that frequency is weak, the display of the oscilloscope returns a weak result. Clearly this is ineffectual for good interpretation or in so=me cases even discovery. Where the analogue signal is so weak the human eye cannot detect its traces, important information may be missed.

The digital oscilloscope can brighten these weak results to any level desired showing very faint pulses as clearly visible on its screen, or the scree of the commuter to which the pulse is transmitted. This allows for much more accurate detection of potentially vital signals or pieces of information.


There is the added benefit, I the digital oscilloscope, of bringing in digital memory capacity to the equation. By being able to store sampled pulses in the now effectively limitless realms of removable storage media or on board digital storage, an accurate record of sampling can be kept for as long as required.
