The Diy Wind Generator
The world is alive with the DIY tutorials, how to guides
, and internet step by steps that can aid in you in a variety of tasks form making a homemade, gluten free cupcake to creating a perfect nightstand for your daughters bedroom. But lesser known are the DIY activities that can often be attributed to being harder, or perhaps a little more difficult. Well, I am here to debunk that myth. Creating fully functional, energy efficient gizmos and gadgets is no harder than constructing the perfect cake. With a little effort, planning and attentiveness, adding a DIY power source to your home, such as a wind generator is as easy as done. Below is a quick how to guide on how to make this possible.
With rising prices for gas and electricity being incurred each year, constructing you very own wind generator does not only make sense, it will save you a bit of money on that power bill each month.
To begin, a DIY wind
generator will consist of four basic parts; the blades, the body, the tower and the tail piece in the back.
Acquiring the blades for your
generator is not nearly as hard as it sounds. The internet is alive with a host of suppliers and distributors that sell many different models and sizes depending on your needs. The best part? Many of these blades wont even set you back that much money as they are only about twenty bucks a pop.
The next piece that needs to be acquired is the body of the wind turbine. This section of construction is the one that can involve the most creativity when constructing it. It can be painted, molded, bent and moved in a variety of ways. Just make sure it is capable of housing the appropriate wiring that you order from a reputable site.
The tower can be a tricky part. In essence, you will need a long pole, such as a TV tower or a flagpole. If you dont want to drop the dough on purchasing a new one of these, simply take a stroll out to your local junkyard and inquire on one of these bad boys whereabouts. Often times, if a junk yard currently doesnt have one in stock, they can check with other yards and see about ordering one just for you.
The tail can be made from left over wood or PVC plastic. Look online to see how others have crafted theirs. You will need to know your way around a blade or saw to cut this correctly.
This of course is only a rough starting guide; the internet is alive with more comprehensive guides and tutorials on how to set up your very own DIY wind
generator. You will also want to make sure you have access to some welding equipment (easily rented from a local hardware store) Look around at the host of resources available to you, choose the right one and in no time, you too can have a cheap, eco-friendly way of powering your house and the many devices that call it their home too.
